TALL ship Tenacious was spotted sailing down the River Mersey on Friday, July 1.

The SV Tenacious is the largest wooden tall ship of its kind in the world which was designed in 1996.

The wooden sail training ship was built by the Jubilee Sailing Trust along with STS Lord Nelson, the pair are the only tall ships in the world that were built so that both disabled and non-disabled people can sail as crew.

The Jubilee Sailing Trust has been in operation for over 25 years and in that time has taken over 25,000 people to sea including 10,000 people with physical disabilities and 5,000 wheelchair users.

The ship has access throughout for disabled crew, including wheelchair users, with flat wide decks and powered lifts.

He told the Globe: “It was around 11am and the ship was due to dock at the cruise terminal but as cruise liner was there it ended up in Langton Dock.

“My first thoughts were what a beautiful looking ship.

“Also knowing that it caters to disabled people is great so disabled can crew the boat too which you don't very often get.”
