A Wirral man has been given a 10-year football banning order following an incident that occurred after Tranmere Rovers' final home game of last season.
Rovers fan Joshua Doyle was detained on April 30 at the game when Tranmere played Oldham Athletic.
Following the match there was disorder between home and away fans on Borough Road and Doyle, 25, from Urmson Road in Liscard was detained at the scene by an officer.
He was arrested for an affray and breaching a football banning order. He had previously been given a five year football banning order in 2018.
As a result he received the following when he appeared in court earlier this week.
Four weeks imprisonment (suspended for 18 months), 250 hours unpaid work, electronic tag for eight weeks with a curfew, 20 days' rehabilitation activity, surcharge of £128 plus costs of £85 and a 10-year football banning order.
Chief Inspector Paul Sutcliffe said: "We work very closely with all our football clubs to ensure fans and members of the public remain safe both inside and outside of the ground.
"Doyle was already the subject of a five year banning order when he was arrested. He now faces a length ban.
"I hope this demonstrates how seriously this kind of behaviour is viewed and how violence at football matches will not be tolerated."
