A WIRRAL takeaway has been marked as “urgent improvement necessary” after it received a damning safety rating from Wirral Council.

Pizza Magic 2 based on Market Street in Hoylake has been given the lowest food hygiene rating of zero out of five from health inspectors.

According to the Food Standards Agency Website, urgent improvement is needed in food handling, cleanliness, and condition of the facilities and building and management of food safety.

The assessment, which was carried out by local authority inspectors on May 23, also states food preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling, and storage all require work.

The website also states the cleanliness and condition of facilities and buildings, including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities, and pest control, to enable good food hygiene needed improvement.

Urgent improvements are also needed in the way the business checks that food sold or served is safe to eat including evidence that staff knows about food safety, and that the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in the future.
