IT’S a tradition that dates back hundreds of years to King Henry VII’s rule in the 15th Century – the roast dinner.

Originally eaten after church on a Sunday, the British classic is eaten by millions every week - for lunch or dinner – and everyone has their own take on what should be served.

Roast beef or roast chicken? Lamb or pork? A Yorkshire pudding with every meat or just roast beef?

What makes the perfect roast dinner? Lashings of gravy and two types of vegetables? Crispy roast potatoes or creamy mash?

Where in Wirral serves the best roast dinner?

In our Best of 2022 campaign, we’ve given out eight awards in Wirral for hair, nails and beauty as well as pies, pubs, fish and chips and breakfast.

Dreams Hair Colour Experts, By Taylor Jade and Leona Ashleigh Beauty together with Veronica’s Bakery, The Green Hut, Smuggler’s Cave, The Traveller’s Rest and Fleur Ashley Tea Room have all been crowned winners in their respective categories.

Voting is currently taking place in Best Independent Shop in Wirral with the closing date midnight on Monday.

This week, we want to find the perfect roast dinner, whether that’s a restaurant or pub or a takeaway from a café, and the overall winner will be decided by you, our readers.

HOW IT WORKS:

Each Friday morning we will reveal new categories via our social media pages and ask you who is the best. Nominations close each Monday morning at 12pm.

Then each Thursday we will publish a shortlist of finalists with voting officially opening.

You will be able to vote in one of three ways:

- By commenting under the relevant post on our Wirral Globe Facebook or Instagram pages = 1 vote

- By entering via the online article on our Wirral Globe website = 2 votes

- By entering via our Wirral Globe newspaper = 5 votes

The following Wednesday evening we will announce the winner of that category on social media. They will then be entered into the running for our overall Simply The Best award at the end of the competition.

Usual Newsquest competition rules apply. For more details go to newsquest.co.uk/terms
