CUSTOMERS say Smuggler’s Cave serves “the best breakfast ever" and now it’s official.
The New Brighton café on Victoria Road is Wirral’s Best for Breakfast 2022.
The pirate-themed venue, which is only small with just eight tables, is the latest winner in our Best of competition taking Wirral’s Best Breakfast crown with a victory in the voting earlier this week.
Each week, we focus on different categories to find the best that Wirral has to offer with awards for hair, nails and beauty being given out as well as fish and chips, pies and pubs already decided.
Smuggler’s Cave has named Best for Breakfast 2022 and owner Paula Neilson couldn’t be happier.
She opened the café six years ago when she was working as an ambulance paramedic and spent the first three-and-a-half years doing two jobs before switching to the café full time.
Aided by a hard-working team of six, which is includes the invaluable Margie Taylor, Paula serves a wide range of breakfast favourites that keep loyal customers coming back for more.
The potato breakfast, which features sauteed potatoes with bacon, onions, beans and fried eggs, is a big hit as is the traditional English breakfast.
All the items served at Smuggler’s Cave are produced and sourced locally with the sausages, bacon and black pudding still made by hand at Priory Quality Meats in Tranmere.
Customers can choose to eat in or takeaway their orders with Paula and the team open between 8am and 2pm seven days a week.
One happy customer, who nominated Smuggler’s Cave in the Best Breakfast category, said: “Fantastic staff who are always full of fun and laughs and they serve the best breakfasts ever at great prices.”
Paula said: “We’re only a small café but we’re always busy.
“Our customers are very loyal and it’s thanks to them that we were shortlisted for this award and then announced as the winner.
“We’re so grateful for their support and kindness and so pleased to have won.”
