A closure order has been served on a Wallasey flat after numerous incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour.

Wirral Council and Merseyside Police obtained the order after complaints against the tenants of the ground floor flat at 69 King Street.

Residents reported that people were attending the address day and night and engaging in anti-social behaviour and drug-related criminal activity. The behaviour included threats, shouting, foul language, illegal drug use and people banging on the property to be let in at anti-social hours.

Wirral Council's anti-social behaviour team started receiving complaints regarding the address on November 5, but despite a closure warning being served to the tenant of the address, the behaviour continued.

A closure notice was served on the property on June 7 this year, only allowing the tenant to remain until a full hearing.

On June 10 a three-month full closure order was granted by Liverpool Magistrates Court to prevent any person from entering the property and provide much need respite to the local community.

The occupant from this property is now receiving support and advice from local charities and services.

The order remains in force until September 13 and prohibits any person from entering the property unless they have permission to do so from Wirral anti-social behaviour team.

Anyone found in the property with no legal entitlement to be there will be subject to arrest and liable for a prison sentence of up to three months or a fine of up to £5,000 or both.
