POLICE officers have launched an extensive search of Noctorum after receiving intelligence about disgarded weapons.

Matrix search teams, Merseyside Police's Underwater Search Unit and British Transport Police all joined a sweep of the area on Friday, June 10 which uncovered a number of items. 

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Matrix search teams, the Underwater Search Unit and British Transport Police have all worked together to search for weapons. We have also been assisted by metal detectorists.

"The Neighbourhood Team have been speaking with locals and developing intelligence. We aim to be as visible and accessible to deter criminals from operating and to encourage the public to assist us by providing information.

"We have removed a bladed article from the area, a mobile phone which had been discarded and a small safe which we believe has been used by offenders.
