A young Wirral dancer will aim to be on point when she competes in the final of Miss Dance UK this weekend.

Tia Lothian will face some of the country's most talented performers in the competition at Blackpool Opera House on Sunday (June 12).

The 18-year-old from Wallasey, who trains at Liverpool Theatre School and Hylton Bromley Dance School, secured a place in the final round of the prestigious dance competition after impressing the judges with a solo performance during the regional heats.

She will compete against more than 75 finalists from across the country in a bid to claim the prestigious title on Sunday.

The high-profile competition, which is organised by the International Dance Teachers’ Association (IDTA), is one of the most important events on the dance calendar.

Tia said: "I'm absolutely over the moon to have made it this far in the competition and I can't wait to dance in the final this weekend.

"My dance tutors at Liverpool Theatre School and Hylton Bromley have been amazing in helping me to prepare for the competition and my family and friends have been so supportive too. I'm looking forward to doing them all proud in the final."

Maxine Ellis, principal at Liverpool Theatre School, said: "Tia is an incredibly talented dancer and she’s been working very hard to prepare for the competition.

"The level of talent at Miss Dance UK is exceptional and this is a fantastic opportunity for Tia to showcase her skills on a national scale.

"We're all so proud of Tia for securing a place on the final and I'm confident she will give an impressive performance in Blackpool, we'll all be rooting for her!"

Tia trains at both Hylton Bromley Dance School and Liverpool Theatre School, whose patrons include dance legend Wayne Sleep OBE and renowned theatre producer Bill Kenwright CBE.

Liverpool Theatre School provides full-time elite performing arts training, which is designed to prepare young performers for the industry, alongside dance and musical theatre classes for young performers from the age of four to 16.
