A POPULAR music festival is returning to Birkenhead this summer after selling out last year.

The inaugural EVOL presents FESTEVOL at Future Yard was billed as the feel good return to normality event of last summer following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Featuring a curated line up mixing the best up and coming bands from around the country and Merseyside, its tickets sold out in hours.

The event returns to the same venue on Saturday, July 2 headlined by Cardiff's Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard and their hometown pals BBC 6 Music darlings Panic Shack, with guests appearances from the Isle of Wight's Coach Party, London's Deep Tan and Manchester's Body Water, all buttressed by some of the finest talent Merseyside and Chester has to offer with Peaness, The Dream Machine, Bandit, The Peach Fuzz, Blondes, Psycho Comedy, Hushtones, Bobby West & The Outsiders, The Merchants, Razzmatazz, and Leonie & The Lawless.

Wirral-based promoter, Steve 'Revo' Miller, said: "Last summer was bitter-sweet for me as I got hit with Covid the week before FestEvol so I couldn't enjoy my work in person and had to watch the online reactions to what was happening from afar.

"It was pure bad luck so I decided that day I would do it again a year later and hoped I'd be able to go myself.

"I'm very happy with the line up, it's a very balanced mix of my favourite new groups from around the country and my favourite bands based here that play regular EVOL shows in Liverpool and it's nice to bring them to a state of the art forward thinking venue in Birkenhead, a place that's been deprived of live touring music for almost 25 years. I'm just looking forward to getting stuck in now and July 2 can't come round fast enough"

Tickets are on sale 10am Friday, June 10 priced at £20 and available via seetickets.com and futureyard.org
