MOTORISTS found bags of turf and a wheelie bin dumped in the middle of a road as they were driving last night.

Fran-Grace Hilton Brown, 21, was driving with her partner down Badgers Rake Lane on their way to Ellesmere Port on Sunday when a loud bang came from under her car.

The pair realised that the whole road was covered in big bundles of turf.

She said: “We tried to slow down quickly but unfortunately it was a large pile, so we got a few more bangs on the car underneath.”

Fran, who is a Neston local, explained that the two tonne bags were full to the brim along with a green wheelie bin in the middle of the lane.

It is said that the turf spread across the road for nearly a quarter of a mile, covering both sides of the road.

Fran said: “We initially thought presumed that a tree had fallen as it was dark outside, but we then realised it was dark brown turf.”

The couple, along with two other drivers, spent 30 minutes clearing and moving every bit of turf out of the road so it was safe for other drivers.

Fran added: “We were shocked that someone would do this and to think it may have been an old dear with poor vision or a family with little kids!”
