THE M53 motorway has been closed due to a police incident.

There are reports of delays after traffic is being temporarily held from both ways around Junction Three, Woodchurch.

There are also reports of congestion to Junction Four (Bebington) heading North and also back to Junction Two (Moreton Spur) heading South.

A diversion is in place in both directions as the incident is ongoing.

“This diversion directs traffic via the exit slip and it can re-join on the other side.

“Slight delays in the area.”

Emergency services are also at the scene after receiving "reports of a concern for welfare".

A spokesperson from North West Ambulance Service said told the Globe: "We were called to the scene at 12.15, following reports of a concern for welfare."
