A fundraising concert in aid of Ukranian refugees will take place at the Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight this weekend.

Featuring a host of performers from across Wirral, the show is at the venue on Greendale Road on Sunday (May 22). All proceeds will go to the British Red Cross, which is co-ordinating the relief effort.

It will feature performances from Mark Sebastian D’Lacey, Billy Thompson, Tia Gill and local dramatic, operatic and musical societies supported by the Greg Williams 17-piece Glenn Miller-style big band.

The local groups taking part are Bebington Dramatic Society, Port Sunlight Players, Heswall Musical Society, Hoylake & West Kirby (Hawk) Theatre Group and Rock Ferry Operatic Society. Soloists from West Kirby Light Opera Society will also perform.

Panto time

THE Seacombe Players’ latest production Alice in Pantoland will be staged at Seacombe United Reformed Church in Brougham Road, Wallasey this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (May 20, 21 and 22).

Performances start at the following times: Friday (May 20) 7.30pm, Saturday (May 21) 2.30pm and Sunday (May 22) 2.30pm.

HMS Thetis talk

DEREK Arnold will talk about the sinking of HMS Thetis as Bebington Family History Society’s guest when it meets this Monday (May 23).

Taking place at Bebington Civic Centre, the meeting starts at 7.30pm.

The Bebington group meets on the fourth Monday of every month.

Knit and natter

A 'knit and natter' session takes place at West Kirby Library every Friday morning  from 11am to 12.45pm.

It's a chance to knit, chat and unwind over a ball of yarn and make some new friends. Just drop in with your knitting or crochet. Everyone is welcome—all abilities.

Music in the park

MUSIC is starting up again at the upper park arena of Ashton Park in West Kirby, which commences with the Peninsula Jazzmen on Sunday, May 29 from 2 to 4pm.

WEST Kirby Musical Theatre Company’s next concert From now on ... - described by its producers as "an uplifting celebration of the best of musical theatre" - will be staged next month.

Argyle tribute

A SHOW paying tribute to one of Wirral's most famous and much-missed theatres will be staged next month.

Performed by Heswall Musical Society, The Argyle Remembered - running from Thursday June 30 to Saturday, July 2 - tells the venue's story in song and dance.
