A SPECIAL event will give local businesses the chance to chat to public and private sector organisations about supply chain opportunities available across the region.

Forming part of the St Helens Chamber Business Fair, a 'Meet the Buyer' event will take place at The Totally Wicked Stadium on Wednesday, May 18.

The fair will give suppliers "unprecedented access" to buyers and decision-makers, where they can provide information about new projects, contracts, framework opportunities, and supply chain opportunities in the borough.

The buyers include St Helens Borough Council, NHS, Muse Developments and McLaren Group.

There will also be advice and guidance around tendering and procurement, as well as opportunities to engage with business support advisors from St Helens Chamber.

With a commitment to getting the borough to carbon net-zero, the council will have a stall focused on environmental projects such as highway infrastructure, which will be looking for contractors to carry out contracts to improve the borough’s roads.

Tracy Mawson, Chief Executive at St Helens Chamber, said: “We are delighted that this major post-Covid event will give large and small businesses in and around St Helens the chance to network and make new contacts.

"We encourage all in St Helens to spend an hour or two visiting the exhibiting businesses and finding out about how to enter supply chains and gain new business – maybe from someone just down the road! We look forward to seeing everyone there.”

Councillor Kate Groucutt, Cabinet Member for Business, Skills and Education, added: “St Helens Borough Council has an ambitious and exciting programme of regeneration and development projects, which will transform the borough.

“From the masterplan frameworks for St Helens and Earlestown town centres to Parkside and Glass Futures, we are delivering our priorities as part of the St Helens Together Borough Strategy that strives to build a strong, sustainable local economy.

“[This] is why this event is a great opportunity for you to find out how you can work with us to provide jobs for our residents delivering positive change for our borough.”
