Winning awards for your talent and your skills is amazing but there’s something about scooping a top honour that’s been voted for by your customers.
Dreams Hair Colour Experts in Bromborough has been named Salon of the Year for Wirral in our Best of 2022 competition and owner Vicky Lane couldn’t be happier.
She opened the business on New Chester Road five years ago after training as a hairdresser at Christopher Boyton’s in Birkenhead and then converting her garage into a salon so she could work from home.
But the set up soon became too small as Vicky took on more clients and decided to expand the business.
Vicky always wanted to be a hairdresser and when asked at the age of 15, before she left school, what she wanted to do when she was older, she replied “have my own salon”.
That wish came true and now the salon has been named Best for Hair in Wirral.
Vicky said: “I did in-salon training to be a hairdresser and it’s something that I wanted to have when I started my own business too.
“Training is important for our staff and our clients and everyone shares ideas, which makes us a great team.
“We specialise in colour and I completed my Wella Masters in Colour eight years ago.”
Dreams Hair Colour Experts made the six-strong shortlist for Wirral as it’s “professional and relaxing” and Vicky and her team make clients “feel like family”.
One nomination said: “Vicky, Ciara, Beth and co are amazing.
“I’ve never laughed so much in a hair salon.
“My hair always feels and looks so good when I leave that I just keep going back.
“The girls treat you like family and it’s such a warm and friendly place.
“They even nip to the shop for you when you have a full head of foils! Truly brilliant!”
Another added that “Vicky and her team are simply the best.
“I have never been to a more relaxed salon and my hair is always done to the highest of standards.
“Professional and hysterically funny all wrapped up in one salon and that’s how salons should be.
“Vicky has created an experience that is second to none and I won’t visit any other salon.”
Being unable to work during the Covid-19 lockdowns over the past two years was hard for Vicky, both financially and mentally.
She said: “I missed my clients.
“I’m such a people person and seeing my customers every day is what keeps me going.
“When we were allowed to reopen the salon, it was like Christmas times two – everyone wanted to book an appointment and it was so lovely to see people after so long.”
She added: “I can’t believe it’s real and feel totally overwhelmed to have won this award.
“The clients nominated us and voted us and to me, that’s the best kind of feedback.
“The things people say really make a difference and I want to say a massive thank you for everyone’s votes and to my hugely supportive team here at Dreams.”
