A permanent Post Office, convenience and stationery store is to open at a former bank premises in Birkenhead town centre. 

The ex-Yorkshire Bank at 2 Princess Pavement, Grange Precinct, Birkenhead will undergo a full refurbishment to incorporate the retail store with Birkenhead Post Office ahead of a planned reopeing on Friday, July 8.

A temporary Post Office is currently operating at 6 Princes Pavement on Grange Precinct, Birkenhead, CH41 2XY. This provided service after the WHSmith branch, where the store had been based, closed.

The interim branch will close on Thursday, July 7 and the new permanent branch will open two doors away on Friday, July 8 at 1pm.

During the move the nearest alternative branch is Birkenhead Hamilton Square.

There will be three full-screened screened Post Office serving counters. The same wide range of Post Office services will be available.

The opening hours will remain as Monday to Friday: 9am – 5.30pm; Saturday: 9am – 12 noon.

Karl Haddon, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: "We know how important a Post Office is to residents and businesses and we are delighted to soon be opening a permanent Post Office for Birkenhead in central Birkenhead.

"We are keen to restore a permanent Post Office to this community as soon as possible in nearby premises, so we have decided to go ahead with our plans."
