WIRRAL residents who are eligible for a Council Tax energy rebate should start receiving their payments from this week according to Wirral Council.

Thousands of UK residents with Council Tax bands A to D were eligible to receive the one off £150 energy payment.

The money is to help the lowest-earning households manage rising bills during the cost-of-living crisis.

Following the Chancellor’s announcement on February 3, 2022, households who have paid their April instalment would start receiving their repayments in May 2022.

Wirral Council shared the update regarding payments on their social media pages about when residents can expect to recieve the money.

A spokesperson for Wirral Council said: “We've had a number of messages around the £150 Council Tax energy payment for A-D band properties.

“We are planning to pay the bulk of direct debit payments from this week onwards.

“If you recently set up a Direct Debit, we'll aim to make this payment in June.

“If the Direct Debit account doesn't match the account holder details then we'll write to you with details on how to apply.

“If you pay through any other method, the team will write to you with details on how to apply towards end of May/early June.

“We will not contact about this payment by phone."
