A CAR wash in aid of the RNLI’s Mayday fundraising campaign is taking place at Hoylake lifeboat station this weekend.

Organised by the Hoylake RNLI lifeboat crew, the event on Sunday will see lifeboat crew volunteers don their distinctive yellow wellies to clean cars at the station on North Parade scrub, rinse and polish visitors’ cars for just £5 per vehicle from 10am until 1pm. 

The last car wash, in 2019, raised more than £1,000 for the RNLI’s lifesaving work.

Book fair

WIRRAL Book Fair takes place at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton this Saturday from 11am to 4pm.

It promises a range of books with something for everyone - all tastes and ages and plenty of bargains.

It will feature vintage children’s literature including Just William and Biggles Twins, British Library crime classics, Agatha Christie and a wide range of Merseyside History from maritime to famous people.

WEST Kirby Musical Theatre Company's concert From now on - described by its producers as 'an uplifting celebration of the best of musical theatre' - will be staged next month.

They will be joined by dancers from the Wallasey School of Ballet for the concerts, at Heswall Hall on Tuesday, June 7 and Thursday, June 9.

Model railway

WIRRAL O’Gauge Model Railway Open Day takes place this Sunday.

Thetis talk

DEREK Arnold will talk about the sinking of HMS Thetis as Bebington Family History Society's guest when it meets later this month.

Taking place at Bebington Civic Centre on Monday, May 23), the meeting starts at 7.30pm.

The Bebington group meets on the fourth Monday of every month. New members and visitors are always welcome. 

Music in Ashton Park

MUSIC is starting up again at the upper park arena of Ashton Park in West Kirby, which commences with the Peninsula Jazzmen on Sunday, May 29 from 2-4pm. Bring a blanket and brolly! Entry is free and donations for the Park are very welcome.

Ukraine concert

A CONCERT in aid of Ukranian refugees will take place at the Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight later this month.

The show - featuring performances from Mark Sebastian D’Lacey, Billy Thompson, Tia Gill and local dramatic, operatic and musical societies supported by the Greg Williams Glenn Miller-style big band - will be staged on Sunday, May 22 at 7.30pm.
