A TRIO of Tranmere goalkeeping legends will be appearing at Future Yard in Birkenhead for a speal 'evening with...' event.

Eric Nixon, John Achterberg and Scott Davies have all achieved legendary status at Prenton Park for the feats they performed in a Tranmere shirt, and in a coaching role as well in the case of Nixon.

Current club captain Davies has been part of a team who achieved successive promotions under Micky Mellon, while Nixon was a mainstay of Johnny King’s fabled team that narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

Before taking up a coaching role at Liverpool FC, Achterberg spent 10 years between the sticks at Prenton Park, taking part in some memorable cup appearances under several managers.

A spokesperson for Future Yard said: "This event will be the perfect chance to get an insight into the mentality of a professional goalkeeper, and find out how they each brought their influence to the team on and off the pitch."

Davies added: "I'm looking forward to a great night with great people.

"It's a chance to catch up with the SWA and trade stories with a couple of real Tranmere legends and goalkeepers I looked up to along the way."
