It is a privilege and a pleasure to welcome you to Co-op Academy Woodslee. I am proud to be head teacher at this academy. Co-op Academy Woodslee is nestled in the heart of the Bromborough community, and we serve children within the Wirral South area.

We are a one and ½ form entry mainstream primary school for children aged 3 years old to 11. We also have a Social and Communication Key Stage 2 resourced provision base. Co-op Academy Woodslee is the foundation for future members of society and by directing our children on the right track they will flourish academically, spiritually, morally, culturally and socially.

I have been headteacher of Co-op Academy Woodslee for almost five years. I joined the school when it was a Local Authority school and we moved into the Co-op Academies Trust in December 2018. Co-op Academies Trust is a successful, vibrant Trust made up of equally successful and vibrant individual academies comprising highly talented and committed colleagues. The Trust’s academies, as recognised by the Sutton Trust and Ofsted, improve pupils’ life chances.

Co-op Academy Woodslee is often considered the heartbeat of the community with a high profile of community events such as a daily food share, weekly litter picks, community choir events, our school shop- ‘A-Corner Shop’, our baby group: ‘Little Acorns’ and our cafe for senior citizens, ‘The Silver Birch Cafe.’

Our mission ‘From Little Acorns, Mighty Oaks Grow’’ is lived and breathed by all at Woodslee. Just as an acorn needs food, sunlight and water to grow; our children need to be equipped with tools to thrive and grow in daily school life to prepare them for the next step in their learning journey and in life as ‘Mighty Oaks.’At Woodslee we value every member of our school community and we provide a learning environment where our pupils can grow, learn and love in a safe and secure way. Our team of committed and hardworking staff are the key to the successful partnership we have with our families. Our staff are award winners too: Teaching Assistant of the Year 2019 and Teacher of the Year 2017.

All Woodslee children are encouraged to go beyond what is possible; to think for themselves, to apply their acquired knowledge and skills, to improve and to transform. Our children persevere through every challenge and live lives as beacons for equality and equity and live lives with hope, empathy, ambition and aspiration. Every child is unique, and this is celebrated in all that we do at Co-op Academy Woodslee.

The Woodslee Way- Our Ways of Being

Wirral Globe:

Do what Matters most: We take care with everything and we take control of the Woodslee Way; accepting the consequences of our choices and we restore the justice. We show initiative and we develop our understanding of how we can contribute positively to our local community and  global community. We take responsibility for our own learning; we want to become independent learners.  We learn to persevere even if our work is difficult; we do not give up. We adapt to different situations, make positive responses and always bounce back for more. We accept that aspects of life are not easy, but we learn to continue to participate fully in and contribute positively to our lives today. We want to challenge our thinking and change outcomes for the better.

Be yourself, always; We are our best selves and strive to be, always. We are prepared mentally and physically for learning. We are eager to learn new things and are ready to help others. We develop our self-knowledge, self –esteem and self –confidence over time. We want to be the very best that we can be, whilst maintaining mutual respect for all.

We will contribute our ideas to make the academy a success, respectful of each person that does their bit to make Co op Academy Woodslee the very best learning community it can be.

Show You Care: We are proud to be part of a multi-cultural trust, with students from all over the world; it is important that we treat each other with respect and accept that others may be different from ourselves. We should all have equal chances to succeed. We want to look for the best in each other. Rewarding others fairly to encourage all types of achievement.

Succeed Together; We learn how to treat others positively and think about our own actions; being mindful of justice and peace. We distinguish right from wrong and we learn to respect rules, locally and worldwide. We learn about different cultural traditions and we appreciate and celebrate the uniqueness of us all, everywhere.

By demonstrating solidarity, we can achieve more by working together, rather than as individuals. We are co-operative.
