People have been asked to donate school supplies, blankets, sanitary towels, shampoo, shower gel, nappies, first aid kits and children’s clothes.

Olivia said her and her colleagues have “shed tears” over the local generosity.

She said: “Myself and the team have shared many tears with people from our community.

“From mums bringing in baby socks to pensioners bringing in pet toys, we’ve even had people at the back door of our office asking us to help them bring in duvets, children’s bikes and even guitars to hopefully bring some joy to the Ukrainians isolated in their shelters.”

“People are being moved, touched, propelled to give and we need to get the word out that we are still here taking donations.”
