A 45-year-old man who died at a house in New Ferry earlier this week has been formally identified as Kenneth Gillam (also known as Kenny).
At 1.30am on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a report that a man had been found unconscious at an address on New Ferry Road.
Paramedics attended but Mr Gilliam was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed.
A post-mortem has taken place and further enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of death.
A 59-year-old man from New Ferry arrested on suspicion of murder has now been bailed with conditions.
A statement from Merseyside Police this afternoon read: "Police remain at the scene on New Ferry Road while further enquiries are carried out and we would like to thank the local community for their patience while this incident is dealt with.
