A 45-year-old man who died at a house in New Ferry earlier this week has been formally identified as Kenneth Gillam (also known as Kenny).

At 1.30am on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a report that a man had been found unconscious at an address on New Ferry Road.

Paramedics attended but Mr Gilliam was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem has taken place and further enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of death.

A 59-year-old man from New Ferry arrested on suspicion of murder has now been bailed with conditions.
