CONSTRUCTION work has begun on a new multi-million care home in Wallasey that will create a 100 jobs once opened.
Situated on Alfred Road, Edgewater will be Exemplar Health Care's fourth home in the North West but its first in the borough and is due to open later this Summer.
The £4.1m development will be equipped top-to-bottom to meet the needs of its new residents who live with a range of complex conditions and are misplaced or remain in hospital settings often for over two years and far away from home, due to the shortage of specialist nursing homes in the area.
Each of the 30 bedrooms will come with an en-suite wet room, and the building will feature high quality, spacious communal spaces, sensory and therapy room and landscaped gardens, for residents and visitors to enjoy.

The home will also have its own trained in-house team of nursing specialists and therapeutic team so that adults living with complex needs can access holistic care in a community-based home.

Charlotte Lloyd, developments director at Exemplar Health Care, said: "We're pleased to announce that construction has begun on-site for our brand-new home in Wallasey, which will bring a range of jobs to the local area – including managerial, domestic, nursing, catering and caring roles.
"Our aim is to support people in and around Wallasey who are living with a range of complex conditions and are misplaced or remain in hospital settings often for over two years and far away from home, due to the shortage of specialist nursing homes in the area.
"Edgewater will provide Nurse led care close to home, with a full multi-disciplinary team including Physiotherapist and Occupational therapist with the home bosting a wide range of communal, therapy and sensory spaces which supports and enables people to live close to home, regain their independence and everyday living skills, and, where possible, move back into their homes in the community.
"It’s also our ambition for Edgewater to be a place where we host community events, and where our residents can be part of the community, whether through work placements, local events or volunteering.
