A small community interest company in Noctorum is delighted after being granted £10,000 by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Support group Our Happy Hub started in April this year, with the aim to help women who may have recently lost their way for a variety of reasons.

The group aims to do this through sessions focused on mental wellbeing, by exploring techniques such as meditation, yoga and various art workshops.

Gina Doyle, who runs the group with a team of five other volunteers, said: "We want to give people the tools to be able to support their own mental health. After lockdown a lot of people have been left feeling isolated, and its all about getting people back out, connecting with one another."

The Globe spoke to one of four sisters who all attend the Tuesday evening support sessions. She said: "My kids want to know what I’m doing, who I’m with and where I’m going all of the time.

"It's really helped me to have the excuse to be selfish once or twice a week, and enables me to put myself first for once."

The grant will be used to further improve the quality and the frequency of the sessions that have been running for the local community over the past 10 months.

It also will also allow the group to start paying one of their volunteers, so they are able to take a small amount back for the hard work they have put in to the community.

Our Happy Hub meet on Tuesday evenings between 6pm and 8pm in the Old Claughton Children’s Centre, attached to Hillside Primary School in Noctorum.

They also host coffee mornings every Friday, at St Andrews, Noctorum between 9:30am and 11:30am.

The group is encouraging anyone from any area or background to come down and join them.
