A ground-breaking new machine that allows people to collect their repeat medication 24/7 is now up and running at a pharmacy in Pensby.

M & A Weinronk Pharmacy are marking their 50th anniversary with the launch of the new automated prescription collection point, which was installed recently at their premises, on Pensby Road.

Serving residents of Pensby, Heswall, Thingwall & Irby, the prescription collection machine, MedPoint, acts like an ATM for prescriptions and is the first technology of its kind on the Wirral.

Tee Weinronk, Pharmacy Director at M & A Weinronk, said: “MedPoint is a fantastic solution as our patients can order their prescription in the usual way but they can pick it up any time day or night, all while observing social distancing.

"It’s helping us to alleviate pressure on the NHS and will allow us to develop a range of other services within the pharmacy setting.”

Designed and built in Britain, the machine automates prescription collection. It allows patients to collect their prescriptions 24 hours a day instead of being confined to pharmacy opening hours.

Pharmacy customers can order their prescriptions as usual, and receive a unique code by text when it’s ready to collect.

The machine will help to reduce queues at pharmacies and provide a lifeline to those that struggle to pick up their prescriptions during regular working hours, particularly key workers.

The collection point is highly secure with integrated alarms, CCTV and is temperature controlled to ensure medicines are stored safely.

Anyone wishing to register to use the service can speak to a member of the team in-store, over the phone or visit weinronkpharmacy.co.uk/medpoint.
