Organisers of this year's Bebington Christmas fair insist that it will be the best one yet.

Morris dancers, a brass band, shire horses, craft stalls, mince pies and mulled wine and, of course, Father Christmas, will all feature at the fun-filled festive event.

The fair, which takes place on Saturday, December 4, promises an afternoon-long extravaganza of fun, festivities, live entertainment and fantastic food and drink.

Taking place from 12 noon in the courtyard next to the Rose & Crown pub, the event is being organised by the volunteers of Brighter Bebington, a community organisation that has been at the heart of the Wirral village’s life for almost 30 years.

Brighter Bebington volunteer Colin Bermingham said: “It has been a tough two years for us all and we think everyone deserves a treat.

"We are aiming to make this year’s Bebington Christmas Fair the best yet and we hope as many people as possible come down to join in the festivities.”

This year’s event will feature:

  • Craft stalls and independent traders
  • Thwaites Shire Horses
  • The Mersey Morris Men
  • The Lyceum Brass Band
  • Bebington Bitter Mens’ Choir
  • Food stalls and licensed bar
  • Mulled wine and mince pies

Busy as he is at this time of year, Santa Claus will also be putting in an appearance, along with Mrs Claus.

There will also be carol singing and the Christmas lights switch-on which will take place at 4.30pm.

At 7pm there will be the annual Christmas raffle inside the Rose & Crown with some great prizes to be given away.

James Skinner, landlord of the Rose and Crown, said: "This is an event we’re all really looking forward to. Having missed last year’s fair we can’t wait to get wrapped up, have a few mulled wines and sing some carols.

"We look forward to seeing the good people of Bebington and beyond joining in the fun!"
