A WOMAN in her 30s has died after she was pulled from the River Mersey.
The emergency services were called out to Pier Head at around 6.10am today ( Friday) following reports that a woman was in the river.
The woman was rescued from the water and taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that officers were called to the Pier Head in Liverpool at around 6.10am today, Friday, November 26, following reports of concern for the safety of a woman in the river.
"Emergency services attended at the scene. A woman in her 30s was removed from the water and taken to hospital where it was confirmed she had sadly passed away.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and we are in the process of formally identifying the woman and informing her next of kin."
