PLANS have been submitted to open a new plastics recycling facility in Warrington town centre.

Developers have asked Warrington Borough Council for permission to convert warehouses on Dallam Lane.

It will be home to a clean plastics recycling facility with two generators if approval is given.

The firm behind the bid, Indigo Environmental, runs a similar operation in Widnes at the moment.

The business would employ 28 people, but the planning application states this could rise if a night shift was introduced.

Documents state: "The operator has advised that the Warrington facility will be managed in much the same manner as Widnes initially, with the same staff numbers and shift patterns.

"After two years, the intention is to increase the staff at the site by introducing a night shift (10pm to 6am).

"The new night shift will be staffed by eight people, increasing the total staff at the site to 36."

And the applicant also says the there will not be massive traffic movements.

The documents add: "The applicant has advised that the majority of large vehicle movements are generated between 7.30am and 11am.

"Even if a worst-assessment is undertaken that assumes that all of the large vehicles will all arrive

in the AM peak hour, the level of traffic generated by the change of use will not be significant."
