A CHARITY supporting children with cerebral palsy has appointed three new staff members to help boost funds.

Stick 'n' Step has appointed three new fundraisers across its centres in Wallasey and Runcorn.

Esther Whitaker is the new head of fundraising. Esther previously worked at Railway Children - an international children's charity working with street children in India, East Africa and the UK - and also has extensive commercial experience.

One of her close friends has a child with cerebral palsy so Esther says Stick 'n' Step’s work is already close to her heart.

Rhianna McDermott has joined Stick 'n' Step as area fundraiser.

She worked previously at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital where she was fundraising to cover the shortfall in NHS fundraising and is relishing the challenge of working for a charity that is "so unique and specialised in the services it provides for children and young people across the region".

Joanne Fowler previously worked for North West Air Ambulance and Wish Upon a Star. She has been appointed as corporate fundraiser for Stick 'n' Step.

As companies emerge from the pandemic and look to start taking part in events and networking again, Joanne is looking forward to forging new relationships between Stick ‘n’ Step and businesses across the region.

Stick 'n' Step's chief executive Amy Couture said: "This is an extraordinarily challenging time for the charity sector, with demand for services being higher than ever, against the backdrop of the pandemic.

"We couldn't be happier to welcome three new members of staff to our fundraising team.

"Their varying backgrounds and experience make them an ideal combination to take our fundraising forward and raise Stick ‘n’ Step’s profile still further across the North West.”

Stick 'n' Step provides free weekly conductive education sessions to children and young people with cerebral palsy up to the age of 25, allowing them to gain the skills they need to live more independent lives.

The charity relies on supporters and volunteers to help raise the £660,000 required to deliver its services to over 100 families each year at its Wallasey and Runcorn centres.
