A CHRISTMAS lights switch-on and children's light parade is due to take place in Greasby village tomorrow night.

The light parade will start from the car park at the Greave Dunning just before 6pm. Those taking part will be led by a pipers in costume.

They will walk down Frankby Road led by two pipers and a drummer, around the village green finishing at the front of the Community Centre on Greasby Road.

The lights switch-on is scheduled to take place at 6.30pm outside Greasby Community Centre.

Looking ahead to the event, a spokesperson for the organisers said: "We believe our switch on is unique as we start with the children’s light parade through the village when all of the children will be wearing lit up antlers and led by a couple of pipers in costume with their pipes lit up as well.

"In the meantime Father Christmas will be travelling around the village in his sleigh pulled by a Honda Gold Wing trike.

"Both will be lit up in colourful lights. Once Father Christmas has switched on the lights the children will be invited into the Community Centre to listen to a Christmas story read by Father Christmas.

"Then on their way out each child will receive a Christmas gift in our Grotto.

"I know a number of areas in the Wirral have an official switch on, but we are the only ones to have a children’s light parade and a illuminated motor bike pulling Santa’s sleigh."
