DETECTIVES investigating a sex assault in Upton have released CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to help with enquiries.

At around 11.20pm on Monday, October 11 it was reported that a woman was sexually assaulted whilst waiting at a bus stop outside the Horse & Jockey pub on Arrowe Park Road.

Police said the man made inappropriate comments towards the victim and sexually assaulted her.

No injuries were reported but the woman was left distressed by the incident and is being supported by specialist officers.

CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the man responsible, and detectives have issued images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Lynsay Armbruster said: "This was a shocking incident that no one should have to go through.

"Thankfully the woman involved was brave enough to report this to police and we can fully investigate what happened to prevent these types of offences.

"We are very keen to speak to this man, as we believe he could have valuable information about this incident which would help our enquiries.

"If you recognise him, or were on Arrowe Park Road near the bus stop at the time of this incident and saw anything suspicious please contact us.

"Any information you have could be vital to our investigation."
