ANYONE anxious to know just how Amanda Owen juggles life as a shepherdess, home renovator and mother to nine children, with life as a best-selling author and being taken to the nation’s hearts with the Channel 5 hit series Our Yorkshire Farm, is advised to head to New Brighton Floral Pavilion on October 26 where she is promising to reveal all.

Amanda and her family first appeared on the popular ITV series, The Dales, presented by Adrian Edmondson and subsequently featured in Channel 5’s New Lives in the Wild with Ben Fogle.

In 2018 Amanda and her family were featured in a Channel 5 documentary entitled Our Yorkshire Farm which received great acclaim and has led to this tour where the 47-year-old is promising to share heart-warming tales and honest anecdotes from her remarkable farming and family life in North Yorkshire.

It’s a life that has almost gone in today’s modern world, one ruled by animals and the four seasons and audiences will hear how Amanda was inspired by James Herriot’s books to leave her town life behind and head to the countryside.

After working as a freelance dairy milker and alpaca shearer, she eventually settled down as a shepherdess at Ravenseat, one of the highest and most remote places in England, where she’s raised a flock of 1,000 sheep and a family of nine children with husband Clive.

Accompanied by some of Amanda’s wonderful photography, this show will help fans experience the highs and lows of the farming year as included in her new book, Celebrating the Seasons with the Yorkshire Shepherdess.

Amanda added: “This is the book I’ve always wanted to write. It takes me back to [E and John Forder’s] Hill Shepherd, a beautifully illustrated book that really resonated with me when I was a teenager and inspired me to become a shepherdess.

“Over the years so many people who follow me on social media have said I should put together a book of my photographs and I’m glad I’ve finally found the time to do it.”

Funny, charming and filled with unforgettable characters, Adventures of the Yorkshire Shepherdess, will delight anyone who has dreamt of a new life in the country.
