IT'S time to dust off your dancing shoes because legendary '80s Wirral nightclub Rupert's is back, for one night only, next week.
The team behind Woodside Ferry Village has organised a celebration of the famous one-time Argyle Street club, taking place on Saturday, October 2, and it promises to be "one of the hottest events Birkenhead has seen for quite some time".
The event will also pay a nod to the town's other popular club, Atmosphere.
Hosted by original Rupert's royalty, Pete Price (pictured, during his time at the club), with a mix of music from across the 80’s and 90’s, the night promises to be a real celebration of Birkenhead's club scene.
Within hours of the announcement that they were bringing back the famous Argyle Street nightclub for a special celebration, hundreds of fans joined their Facebook group (Rupert’s & Atmosphere VIP rooms) which now stands at over 1,500 members.
Woodside Ferry Village Managing Director, Sharon Stanton, said: ‘We are so excited to be putting on this night. So many of us still remember the fun times we had at Rupert’s and Atmosphere and we can’t wait to relive our 20’s, listen to some classic tunes and hopefully see lots of old faces.
"Woodside is the perfect venue for this kind of event, we’ve got tonnes of space, great acoustics and lighting. All we need now is to see the dancefloor full!’
In its heyday, Rupert’s was one of the region’s most popular nightspots attracting top-name performers and celebrities.
Along with celebrating the classic music of the era, the Woodside independent food vendors will be offering a selection of street food dishes throughout the night whilst the Tipsy Duck and Pausha Wine & Cocktail bars will be serving up a selection of beers, wines, spirits and themed cocktails.
"More than anything, we want this night to be a celebration of the good-times," said Sharon.
"It's been a challenging 18 months for everybody, especially the night time economy, so I think we are all ready to party and step back in time for what I am sure will be a fantastic night!’
