THE Light cinema in New Brighton is giving music fans the chance to relive the glory days of Britpop with two special screenings of new documentary Oasis Knebworth 1996.

The film tells the story of how for two days in August 1996, 250,000 gig goers converged on Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire to see Oasis play two record breaking, era defining shows. The landmark concerts sold out in under a day with over two per cent of the UK population attempting to buy tickets.

The film is made up of never-before-seen archive concert and backstage footage from the gigs, with additional interviews with the band and concert organisers.

“Knebworth for me was the Woodstock of the 90s,” said Liam Gallagher in a statement. “It was all about the music and the people. I can’t remember much about it, but I’ll never forget it. It was Biblical.”

The film is screening at The Light on Thursday, September 23 and Friday September 24 at 8pm.
