There have been reports of young people travelling from other areas in Wirral to the New Ferry area to cause trouble.

The issues include lighting fires in Mayer Park in Bebington while others have reported fireworks being set off in bins and youths smoking cannabis.

Merseyside Police posted on their Facebook page yesterday, Thursday, September 16, that they would be “stepping up patrols” in the area after receiving many reports of anti-social behaviour.

The post said: “We are currently receiving reports of many young people travelling from other areas in Wirral to the New Ferry area and acting anti socially.

“Do you know what your child is up to? Some young people have been lighting fires in this area and Mayer Park in Bebington.

“This weekend we are stepping up our patrols in this area. Young people who are found to be acting in anti social manner will be returned home to parents.

“If criminal offences are disclosed your child could be arrested.

“Over the next few weeks we will be working with our partners in the Wirral Council anti social behaviour team and Youth Offending service to address persistent offending.

“Youth outreach workers are in the area.

“Help us to keep your community safe, young people free from harm and exploitation on the Wirral.”

In another post that evening they commented: “Local officers from #TeamBeb have been out and about in New Ferry this evening and we will continue to provide a high presence in the area due to ongoing issues with anti-social behaviour.

“If you wish to report any ASB please do not hesitate to contact us on 101, online or alternatively via Crimestoppers.”
