A TEENAGER, who was visiting a friend in Wirral to celebrate her 18th birthday, was viciously assaulted by three attackers.

The victim, whose first name is Ethan, had travelled from Widnes on Saturday, September 11 to celebrate his friend’s birthday which was hosted at a venue in Liscard.

After the party, Ethan along with 20 other friends headed back to his friend’s house to stay over.

Rachael Seager, mum of the daughter who was celebrating her 18th birthday, told the Globe the night had started off as “the best night ever”.

She said: “My daughter and all her friends came back to my house after the party to stay over.

“They were all so well behaved and responsible so I knew I could trust them.”

Rachael said after sitting with her daughter and her friends until 4.30am she went to bed.

She said: “I was knackered because I have been up since 7am preparing all the party food.

“They were the loveliest bunch of people ever so I knew I could go to bed and there would be no issues."

At around 7.50am, Rachael was frantically woken up by one of her daughter’s friends.

She said: “She ran upstairs to me to tell me there were police at the door.”

Rachael said she went “flying” downstairs to see what the problem was.

She said: “The police officer asked me if I knew Ethan and I told him he was here asleep.

“Then he asked me to get my daughter, but I told him I’m not going to wake her up until they tell me what’s going on.

“He told me someone had phoned to police to say they had seen a lad stumbling around the area absolutely battered black and blue bleeding everywhere and that it was Ethan.”

Rachael said she felt “sick to her stomach” when she heard the news.

Ethan had left the party early that morning to go home but was targeted by three males who beat him up.

She said: “He’s from Widnes he didn’t have a clue where he was and then these three lads targeted him.

“He’s a very sweet and lovely boy he wouldn’t hurt anyone.”

Ethan was taken to Alder Hey Hospital where he was treated for a fractured skull and neurological problems.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: “We are appealing for information following a report of an assault in Rock Ferry on Saturday, September 11.

“At around 7am we received a report that a male was injured on Old Chester Road, between the junction with Green Lawn and Byrne Avenue.

“It was reported that the male had been assaulted by a group of three males who made off in an unknown direction.

“Emergency services attended and located the injured male. He was taken to hospital with a head injury and has since been discharged.

“The suspects are described as young white males, with long hair and dark clothing.

“CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out by police to find those responsible for the attack and officers are urging anyone with any information to come forward.”

Detective Inspector Tom Clarke said: “This was an appalling attack leaving a man injured, and we are working hard to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

"It you were in the Old Chester Road area in the early hours of Saturday morning, witnessed the incident or have any dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage locally which might identify the suspects, please let us know.

"Such despicable behaviour has no place in Merseyside and we'll do all we can to put those responsible before the courts."
