A MAN in his 40s has sadly died following an incident in Wallasey, it has been confirmed this evening.
At around 11.55am on Monday, police received a report of a concern for safety of a man at flats on Mount Pleasant Road, Wallasey.
It was reported that the man was threatening to harm himself.
Police negotiators attended the scene and located a man in his 40s with serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital where he later sadly died.
His next of kin have been informed.
A post-mortem will be carried out to formally establish cause of death.
A Merseyside Police statement read: "The incident was referred by Merseyside Police to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as his death followed recent police contact.
"We would like to thank the community for their patience while we dealt with the incident."
