A WIRRAL tapas bar and restaurant is celebrating its fourth birthday with a special day of events.

Having survived the pandemic, the team at Silk Road in Heswall have said they want to celebrate and thank the community for all the support they received during lockdown.

The restaurant on Telegraph Road will celebrate on Sunday, August 22 starting with breakfast in the morning for families with a children’s character in attendance, face painting and a colouring competition.

At lunch time the famous Silk Road giant paella will be cooked on the terrace and early evening will see live music and special offers on drinks.

All weekend the restaurant will also be running a raffle to win some amazing prizes with all proceeds going to Claire House Children's Hospice.

During lockdown, Silk Road began offering a take away service, which turned out to be a real lifeline to the restaurant, ensuring no jobs were lost and helping the business was able to ride out the storm.

It was a difficult time for owners Chris Williams and Javier Mellado who are now determined to invite all the people who have supported them over the last four years and say thank you.

Chris said: “Since we opened Silk Road we have really enjoyed becoming part of the community in Heswall.

"Although the pandemic has been tough on us all, one positive to come out of it was to see how people supported each other and we are really grateful that local people used our takeaway service – it really did help keep the business afloat.

"Our celebration on Sunday is just a small way to show how thankful we are.”

Javier added “Heswall is a great community and we are delighted to be a part of it. We have built up a very loyal customer base and a lot of people have become our friends – we look forward to continuing to serve this community for many years to come.”

Anyone who would like join in the celebrations is advised to book early to reserve their table at silkrd.co.uk or by calling 0151 345 6463.
