THE Heswall Society has awarded local residents with honorary life memberships for their dedication to the local community.

High Sheriff of Merseyside, Nigel Lanceley DL, presented the society's former chair and planning officer, Dennis Clegg and owner of the Village Shop in Lower Heswall, Caroline Cartwright with the memberships.

The memberships offer additional detailed information on the actions taken by the society including planning application reviews, conservation work and consultations with Wirral Council.

Dennis Clegg said: “After so many years as part of The Heswall Society, this is definitely a ‘This is Your Life’ moment. Thank you so much.”

Dennis joined the committee in 2001 and retired in March after 20 years. He was awarded Wirral Award by the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral for his work in the committee.

Similarly, Caroline Cartwright has spent 20 years serving Heswall residents as the owner of the Village Shop in Lower Heswall.

Caroline said: “I would like to thank the Heswall community for its support, particularly over the last months.”

The Heswall Society was formed over 60 years ago and is involved in local planning and environmental issues in Gayton and Heswall.
