Cavern Club resident beat group are to return to the Grosvenor Ballroom on Saturday, August, 21.
Vee Tone Records recording artists, The Shakers, have been residents at the Cavern Club for many years, with their regular favourite, ‘Shakin’ Sunday’ three hour beat session.
The night will host plenty of dancing to rock ‘n’ roll rhythm and blues and the Mersey beat boom hits from The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Searchers and many more.
Band member, Tony O’Keeffe, said: “We are hoping to promote the historical importance of the original venues that are still around and our commitment to the music that put Merseyside on the map.”
During the early 60s burgeoning Mersey beat scene, the Grosvenor Ballroom in Wallasey was a regular venue for the local beat groups.
The Beatles, played there many times throughout 1960 and 1961 making fourteen appearances in total.
Now, their authentic sixties sound will take you back to when the Mersey Sound held sway at the dancehalls and beat clubs of Merseyside.
