Ambitious plans to create an incredible purpose-built fan park outside Tranmere Rovers' stadium are edging ever nearer following a huge funding effort.

The Tranmere Rovers Trust set-up a crowdfunding page to help raise the final £350,000 needed to finance the £1.6million project.

And shortly after 9pm this evening (August 1) the huge target was reached.

Supporters have been chipping into the pot, with incentives such as reserved seats on match days

At the last count, 1,084 supporters contributed to the successful crowdfunder initiative.

Rovers' fan park plan is set to revolutionise the match day experience.

The proposed new venue will have capacity for 800 people inside and 400 outside and will be used not just on match days, but also throughout the week as a fully licensed cafe, lunch and evening venue and bar, offering a wide range of food as well.

It will also feature its own German craft beer microbrewery.

Organisers plan to host weddings, conferences, award dinners and a variety of exciting events throughout the year.

The proposals will be reviewed by Wirral Council in the early Autumn and if approved, work is expected to start as soon as November, with hopes of opening in early 2022.
