FIRE crews are battling a large fire at a reclaimed timber yard in Ellesmere Port.
Residents near Merseyton Road are being urged to keep their windows and doors closed after the blaze broke out at about 4.20pm and is currently said to be well ablaze.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service says 10 fire engines have been deployed to the incident, having received multiple calls.
As well as the timber yard, the fire is also impacting a row of seven disused terraced homes.
The fire is, as of 6pm, affecting the timber yard along with two of the disused homes.
Firefighters are working hard to tackle the fire and prevent it from spreading further.
The site has been split into four areas and firefighters are using main jets to fight the fire, they are also using an aerial appliance fight the fire from above.
A cordon has been put in place as a precautionary measure and Merseyton Road is closed as a result of the incident.
