THIS year’s Wirral food, drink and music festival has been postponed by the organisers "with heavy heart" due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The event will now take place on September 2, 3 and 4 next year.

A council statement read: "We look forward to welcoming you all back with open arms on 2, 3 and 4 September 2022 where all three headline bands - The Coral, Echo & the Bunnymen and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - will take centre stage at Birkenhead Park following a celebration of Wirral’s best produce and delicatessen during the daytime.

"The decision to reschedule has been taken due to the ongoing uncertainty around the roadmap to recovery.

"All tickets will be automatically transferred to the new date.

"If you are unable to attend the rescheduled date and you want to request a refund, please contact The Floral Pavilion Box Office via 0151 666 0000 by July 8, 2021 and include booking name, transaction number, postcode and contact number.

"We're already counting down the days until the vibrant weekend full of foodie delights, chef demonstrations, and world-class music… 443 to be exact!"
