A large gorse fire has been extinguished by fire fighters at Royden Park in Frankby.
Crews were on scene in Hill Bark Road at 6.17pm and arrived to find a large area of gorse around 30 x 30 metres alight at the rear of the rugby club.
People were advised to avoid the area while firefighters tackled the blaze with four pumps and main branch hoses.
When the Globe arrived at the scene, emergency services had already left the area, but local dogwalkers confirmed that they had seen fire fighters extinguish the fire.
An eye witness told the Globe: "One of the firefighters said that the fire could have been a lot worse and it was lucky that it was dealt with quickly."
Mersey Fire & Rescue updated their incident log by saying: "Main fire extinguished at around 7.30pm and firefighters damped down perimeter and entire area before leaving the scene at 8.34pm."
