DOGS Trust Merseyside need your help give to German Shepherd Axil a fresh start and new home.

The three-year-old rescue dog has found it difficult adjusting to life in kennels.

When out and about, he is able to relax and focus on his handlers, leaning into them for comfort and reassurance, as well as a bit of a fuss too.

He loves chasing after his toys, and this is his favourite outlet to forget his worries. He'd love to find an experienced family who can teach him about life and take him on adventures.

Georgina Lowery, Dogs Trust Merseyside manager, said: "When Axil is worried, it can be difficult for him to focus well on his interactions with other dogs but he has made progress during his time in our care.

"He would require ongoing training once he has found a home with a new family and help and advice is always on hand from our team.

"Axil will need a home with no children and a secure garden for him to potter around in, as well as quiet areas to go for walks.

"In order to build up a bond with him, potential owners should be willing to visit Axil a few times. Due to some ongoing issues with his legs, Axil will also need a home with very few stairs and may require some repeat visits to our vet once adopted."
