CLAIRE House has launched an online furniture donation service as it attempts to boost funds after lockdown.

During the last year, many people will have struggled to find someone to take away their secondhand furniture without spending hours in the queue for the dump.

The service announced by Claire House today aims to make it much easier to give.

The new system lets supporters book a collection of their furniture at a time to suit them, so is much more convenient.

Anyone booking a collection time will receive a text message the night before, letting them know a 60-90 minute window for when the drivers will be there, meaning they don’t have to wait in all day.

Tracey Allwright, head of retail at Claire House said: "The good news is that it remains a free service and all the money raised from selling the furniture in their charity shops will help to support seriously and terminally ill children in the local area.

"If you're thinking of refreshing your living room or updating your bedroom and you’re looking for a great way to get rid of your old but good quality furniture for free, then with a simple click Claire House will send a van round to your door to pick it up.

"And don't forget to gift aid it."
