YESTERDAY, Boris Johnson announced that Covid-19 restrictions would be eased further in the next stage of the roadmap out of lockdown.

It means that from Monday (May 17) restaurants, bars, pubs and cafes will be able to serve customers indoors in groups of six or from two households.

Many businesses across Wirral took to social media to share their excitement of reopening their doors again.

Figo’s Mediterranean Kitchen – West Kirby

Figo’s have been busy redecorating in time for that much anticipated May 17.

They posted on Facebook: “We are so very excited to have you all dining in again!”

Blind Pig - Heswall / West Kirby

This popular speakeasy cocktail and gin bar is taking bookings for its indoor service.

It has created a new cocktail menu and refurbished the outdoor space to mark the occasion.

The bar's management posted: "We cannot wait to see you all inside!"

Woodside Ferry Village – Birkenhead

Woodside Ferry Village took to Facebook to share their excitement regarding the announcement on Monday night.

Taking to Facebook they said: “Brilliant news to hear the announcement tonight that we’re allowed to reopen indoors a week today.

“We cannot wait to welcome you all back!”

Woodside will remain closed until restrictions ease due to unpredictable weather.

Est.Italian – West Kirby

This Italian eatery posted on Facebook: “We are so excited to reopen our doors in seven days and we can’t wait to see you all again!”

Julian’s Restaurant – Hoylake                      

Another local restaurant joining in the excitement of reopening is Julian’s Resturant in Hoylake.

They took to Facebook to say they are counting down the days to reopen their doors to customers again.

Strollies Café and Delicatessen – Wallasey

As well as welcoming customers to dine indoors, this café situated in the heart of Wallasey Village will be offering a new tapas menu every Friday and Saturday night.

They said: “We are nearly there! Call us on 01513060986 to make a booking for May 17th and beyond!

“We will also be open for tapas every Friday and Saturday night from May 21.

“Watch this space for our new tapas menu! We can’t wait to welcome you back.”

The Mersey Clipper – Birkenhead

Flaming Grill pub, The Mersey Clipper, said: “Just two weeks on Monday until we open inside again. Roll on May 17th.”

Cocktail bar, Elixir posted on Facebook how reopening was like seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

They posted: “We finally see light at the end of the tunnel. Our booking systems are now live for tables from May 17th! We cannot wait to welcome you all back and show you what’s new at Elixir with our new revamped food and drinks menu.”
