A POPULAR cinema in New Brighton is set to reopen its doors later this month.

Management at the Light Cinema in New Brighton made the "difficult decision" to close its doors "until further notice" on Christmas Eve because of after uncertainty over covid-19 rules.

But, five months on, it has been confirmed that the hugely popular venue will reopen on Friday, May 21 and are looking forward to welcoming guests back in line with Government guidance.

A spokesperson for the cinema said: "After a challenging year, The Light are excited to be able to reopen their doors again and to get back to offering their guests a fantastic big screen experience whilst maintaining the same high levels of safety.

"In addition to this, and in line with new Test and Trace rules set by the government, cinema staff will also be gathering the contact details of all guests over the age of 16."

Opening with the likes of Godzilla Vs Kong, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, the BAFTA and Oscar award-winning Sound of Metal and Nomadland, plus a very special 40th anniversary showing of Raiders of the Lost Ark, just to name a few.

Guests can also look forward to A Quiet Place Part II, Black Widow, Fast & Furious 9, The Suicide Squad and No Time to Die, all gracing their screens later this year.

James Morris, The Light's chief executive, said: "We can't wait to reopen and get back to offering the ultimate big screen experience in a safe and welcoming environment.

"A huge thank you to all our guests and team for their patience and support over the past year, we know you've all been so eager to return, and we can’t wait to finally welcome you back.”

On top of the stellar film slate, the venue will also get back to offering a range of handmade pizzas as well as all the usual cinema favourites too.
