THE Birkenhead Tunnel has been closed by police following an incident involving a large vehicle.
Officers were called to the Queensway Birkenhead Tunnel at about 8pm tonight.
Merseyrail tweeted: "The Queensway #Birkenhead Tunnel is closed due to an incident where a large vehicle has struck some fixtures within the tunnel causing damage.”
Emergency crews are at the scene to assess the damage.
