A teenager has been arrested after an elderly man was kicked into the River Mersey on Sunday, but police are still searching for an accomplice.
As previously reported by our sister paper, the Warrington Guardian, the 74-year-old man was attacked as he stood on the banks of the river on Wharf Street, near to Riverside Retail Park in Warrington, at around 2.30pm on April 25.
A statement from Cheshire Police said: "A 15-year-old boy has today been arrested on suspicion of assault and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
"He is currently in police custody.
"Enquiries are ongoing to identify the remaining boy."
