A VIBRANT new artwork has been added to New Brighton’s Victorian Quarter and the town’s street art tour.

The bold design, named ‘Belladonna,’ can be found on the corner of Virginia Road and Belmont Road.

The artwork was created by French street artist, Nerone, who has worked on murals in Paris, New York and Seoul.

Nerone said: “It’s been such a fantastic experience to create this massive piece in New Brighton and to meet so many lovely people.

“So many world-famous artists have been painting around the town and it’s amazing to see how street art has transformed this place. Big up to Rockpoint’s group for spreading this energy and love for art.”

The New Brighton Street Art Tour is a free attraction within New Brighton, funded and commissioned by Rockpoint Leisure.

The company has plans to bring in more national and international artists when lockdown restrictions have eased.

Creative Director and Street Art Director of Rockpoint Leisure, Robert Jones said: “We’ve had this in the pipeline for a while now, with travel restrictions we’ve had to pencil it in twice.

“It’s quite fitting that we’ve been able to get it done with the restrictions lifting. It’s a cheery piece as well, so it reflects the times, that we’re coming out and it’s a bit of a brighter future.

“We try to mix it up so there is something for everyone. That’s why we go from abstract, to realism, to portraits of local stories and artists who have their own chosen style.”
